Suggestions needed for 2 single Yanks
who will have just graduated from college in May. A 2-3 week trip to Oz is their graduation gift from their parents. They want to get QF Airpasses for Zone 1-Adelaide, Melbourne, Sydney, Canberra, Gold Coast, Hobart, Newcastle and Launceston. They can pick 3 cities to go to and are currently leaning towards Sydney and Melbourne, but for the third city it's a tossup between Brisbaine, Adelaide or Gold Coast.
What do you think? They have never been abroad before, have no set itinerary, just fancy wandering around (not sure how keen their moms are about that, ), will not be renting a car, so dependant on public transport.
Pretend you're 22 again and you and your best mate have just landed in Oz.

I think, 2 young ppl, visiting Oz, with no set itinerary is kinda asking for trouble, based on the fact they have such a short stay and no means of personal transport.
Its a tad like saying, lets send a cpl of guys to Atlanta , Nebraska, and either Alaska or LA. lol
I personally, if I were them, hit Adelaide.
Purely and simply, its shorter distance, equally as much to do, Gold Coast can be done in 1 day ( if you are 22 ! ) ... however if they love thrills of the "fair" then GC may be the go.

Definitely the Gold Coast after Sydney and Melbourne. Depends what they're into of course, but Cairns, with its proximity to the Great Barrier Reef would be a good option.

I'd choose either the Gold Coast or Brisbane simply because it's only an hour by train to the other one

I came with an airpass thingy when I was 19, and remembering back to those days, I'd say 'DEFINITELY GOLD COAST!!'.
However, now I'm twice as old and a mother myself........ DON'T let 'em ANYWHERE NEAR the Gold Coast!

Hello Cindy, fancy seeing you here. I think they are saying that 2 young men on the GC would have a great deal of fun. It's alive, not like Perth. Did you click on Hutch's link in post #9? It's well worth it. My guess is you are setting this all up for them in your capacity as a Travel Consultant. Personally I would say, Melbourne, Sydney and the GC, but they really don't have alot of time to see much to be honest.

Yes, and I've done research myself, but thought well I'll just ask folks who live there-the same as if someone said well I'm coming to the States, what should I do (other than make the required pilgrimage to Mickey, ). But the idea of them not having transport, other than the flights to the cities/areas makes me wonder.
