Hi
When we finally get our visa and make the move to Australia we are planning on having a holiday on the way before we have the stress of husband starting work and having to find a house etc.
We have two children under 4 and would like somewhere fairly relaxing ideally a beach location.
Has anyone had a great stopover that they could recommend?
Thanks

Hi there
We toured Malaysia & Singapore with our 2 & 3 year olds. I would recommend Langkawi - cheap and kid-friendly, great food and beautiful scenery. We stayed at the hotel below, fairly basic but large rooms and HUGE pools! They loved it.

We also flew direct to Langkawi.

We travelled with a pair of 2 -year olds and stopped in Miami for 4 days, Mexico for 3 weeks, Los Angeles for a week and Hawaii for 3 days. They were all excellent for the kids. If I was going to choose one it would definitely be Mexico, we stayed right on the beach in a little fishing village south of Cancun which didn't have much of a tourist industry and the locals just loved the kids, they had never seen red hair before so our red-haired girl was fussed over and investigated minutely. In Mexico, everybody looks out for each other's kids, when one of ours looked like she might run into a road, the locals were immediately alert and stopping the traffic. It's a very friendly place and the kids had a great time, as did we.

I took my then 2 & 3 year olds to Isla Mujeres, an island off Cancun, Mexico & rented an apartment. The locals were wonderful - virtually no traffic on the roads apart from electric golf carts & the beaches sandy & safe. Everyone couldn't do enough for us wherever we went & we had a really relaxing time.
