Suet

Anyone come across packets of shredded beef suet please?

Can't seem to find it in supermarkets unless it's called something else in Aus.

Re: Suet

You might have to render your own - ask your butcher for the fat and just simmer/melt then strain it. We have heaps of the stuff here.

Re: Suet

I managed to get atora vegetarian suet from syds pies, a Scottish butcher in Brisbane, I wasn't sure it would work as well as beef suet but it was fine when I made dumplings with it, maybe you could try them they have a website although I'm not sure if you can order online

All Coles have their own little bit of shelving with "foreign foods" too but it seems to depend on where you live as to which "foreign" it will be. I went to my local Coles last night at Caringbah looking for a few home treats and the "foreigners" there seem to be Kiwis, no Pommy food. :sneaky: So I called into Franklins at Taren point and their "foreign" food is all South African!!

I had to make do with some McVities chocolate Digestives......

I have never seen suet here, mind you can't say as I ever went looking for it LOL!! Dumplings in this weather!!

Oh my God that sounds so delicious. My grandma used to make snakes & pygmies pudding when I was little. My mother could never make it anywhere near as tasty, though. I may need your recipe.
