So , it's 1994 and I've only been living in Australia for a few weeks. I've never really been into football of any kind, and didn't know ( and still don't know ) much about Aussie sports. My main passion was always music, especially Live music and local bands.
The Sydney pub that I frequented at the time had bands playing most nights of the week. It was a Saturday night and I'm watching a band, actually a Madness cover band called 'Complete Madness', when a bloke shouts out to me, "are you coming down on wednesday to watch the State of Origin ?"
So Wednesday night I go in and get a pint, and wondered why there were loads of bogan blokes watching the footy on a big projector screen. At the bar getting my second beer, I say to the barman , " what time are the State of Origin playing?" I could have crawled under the table.............
