Default St. Valentine's Day 2012

Question 1: What is it with dumb-bottoms who organise evening business meetings and school meetings on St. Valentine's Day? Husband and I have both chosen to decline one each.

Question 2: How will you celebrate St. Valentine's Day?

We don't - it's a rip off "Hallmark" day.

Why do people feel the need to celebrate their love for someone on a day chosen by some indeterminate thing? That's what anniversaries are for. The only importance of Feb 14th for us is that it's both the MiL and Tiddler's birthdays and it's seriously irritating that buying flowers and meals out are a fricking nightmare because prices are hoiked up.

Sadly, I think you are right.

We have made a conscious decision not to go to restaurants which have double (early/late) sittings on special occasions. You're either racing to get there and hurried out... or dealing with depleted menus, tired staff and still hurried out.

Greed was never romantic.

Could always take the meeting organisers jnto a garage and shioot them?

Maybe they didn't realise, and are heading for a large amount of egg on face when their own partner announces the booking of a nice cosy meal ...... Or perhaps they just hate romance and did it out of spite?

Wife and I will be doing our best to attend business meetings and school meetings, seems like as good a day as any other to do these things, I hope someone in our area has the good sense and foresight to organise something..

(clearly you'd have to be NUTS to go out and spend twice as much as the normal price of eating out and broadcast TV will be an absolute waste of electricity to watch)
