donovandenese I hope it all works out for you, sounds like a pain and makes you wonder what they are doing with your application! :curse:

well.....it appears that Oz House have managed to lose both certified copies of our marriage certificate which we included with our application "it may have been lost/misplaced when your application was opened/sorted". great - we now have to pay to go and get another copy certified and sent to them.

as for the supporting evidence - they want me to resubmit all our supporting evidence, plus some extra as they said what we sent wasn't enough to prove over 5 years relationship. i am worried now as for the work I do (finance/government) I really need a perm visa not a temp visa, and this shouldn't be a problem as we have been living together over 5 years. I'm not sure how much more evidence I can provide. we already sent nearly 200 pages of bills, joint addresses, joint travel etc etc etc

Not the best news to receive, and as Caz says, must be so frustrating :curse: keep your chin up, get all that evidence together and I hope it all works out in the end :)

Speaking of evidence, me and my fiancee speak on the phone every day, however our phone bills only show the calling card number we each use to call each other, not our ACTUAL phone number, was this the same for anyone else?

OH finally had enough today and rang our CO. She was unaware of the medical being cleared, then saw on her computer it was... told OH that our application will now be processed further.

About an hour later we received a request that I should contact the CO to arrange an interview.:ohmy::thumbsup::ohmy:

This will now take place Monday morning. Very excited but also very nervous.

Anyone done an interview? What did they ask? Should we worry that they requested an interview?

HELP!!!!!!

Estee - although im going for the prospective marriage visa, im sure I read that for your visa that an interview can be requested if required, but doesnt sound like something to worry about too much :)

Hello again!

I was worrying about the phone call aspect too - I have a pay as you go phone so didn't get statements with the numbers called, the best I could do was print regularly from the call providers website as it showed the last dozen or so calls made and so showed the number in Australia that I had been calling, but didnt confirm that it was my number that was calling it! I have heard of people that used phone cards and all they did was send in copies of the phone cards and perhaps a sample of phone bills highlighting the call to the number to show how often you called and just attach a little statement to it saying what it shows.

I think we all get a bit paranoid about these things - just try not to worry too much! At the end of the day, you are dealing with real people who will apply common sense to the situation, you just need to make sure that the application is clear and explained well - I reckon that the easier you make it for the CO to understand your application/documentation then the quicker the visa will be granted! They are just there to ensure that it is a genuine and ongoing relationship and that you are genuinely committed to each other. I'm sure you and your fiancee's love will shine through in your statements.

Try contacting the calling card issuer. I did that in UK and in Australia and got full records of all calls over a period of 3 months.

Good luck!

Hi, I've been through this. I was nervous beforehand but there was no need to stress. The CO just looked through our application table of contents, had a look at the eight photos we'd printed, with captions giving date and location then I think she asked us if we had any joint tenancy agreements - which we did. Then we all had a chat about some random stuff, and that was it.

I think the main thing is that both of you turn up and look like you know each other!

As it says in the booklet, every relationship is different and there are lots of ways you can prove your relationship is genuine and continuing so don't worry if you can't provide every single thing.

Good luck on Monday - it's a happy time for you.

Hey all! I posted here a coupla months back, asking if the 9 month start date for the PMV could be requested...short story is that we did end up calling Australia House a couple of times and they were really helpful (thank you SillyOldBag for suggesting it!!) not just for that query but other stuff that was niggling us as well.

Anyway, we posted off the application yesterday and told by Royal Mail that it would arrive by lunchtime today. I'm now looking at the clock thinking, "It should at least be there by now..." Curse the long weekend, argh! Meds are being done next week and police cert shouldn't be too far away. We're hoping to go in August, should be good!!

It's been BRILLIANT reading all of your stories - I keep flipping between thinking the application will be sorted with no probs, to almost-panic of thinking we'll be called in for an interview or it'll get misplaced or something.

This smiley says it all, really...

Anyway, I'll try to let you know how it all pans out, but thanks again for all of you who have shared, it has calmed me down heaps!

Cheers,
Zev :)

Hi, my name is Victoria (I'm the Pommie). I met my other half whilst I was taking a year out to travel.
We met and fell for each other in a matter of 2 weeks! :o
Between my travels of Oz we spent pretty much most of the 7 months that I was over there together and only 2 months after meeting we found out I was pregnant (after being told almost 10 years ago I could not have children!).
My visa expored and I came home here to the UK to have the baby and my OH has followed me here. He hates it over here!
We plan to be married in the next couple of months, have the baby and then he wants us all to return to Oz!
We will live in Toowoomba (2hrs from Brisbane) where he will go back into his old job.
Our little girl is not due until mid July so once she is born I will strat the visa process, which I must admit looks pretty daunting and confusing! :(
So that's me!

Nice to see lots of others in the same kind of situation, it's pretty worrying when you think there is no one to ask all those little concerns and questions don't you think?

Victoria x

Hi Victoria,

Welcome! I found this forum and in particular this Thread really helpful during our application process. Everyone is really helpful so don't think your asking silly questions because we have all been there! Its daunting at first but just keep at it! Good luck with the rest of your pregnancy too! Not long to go! By the way I have been to Toowoomba many times, its a beautiful part of the world! Lovely place to raise a family! We are also going to Queensland (in September)!! Can't wait as we have 3 little boys and I just know they will love it over there!

Anyway take care and if you need to know anything just ask away because someone who comes on here is bound to know the answer!

Caz x
