Hello everybody, could I introduce myself we are hoping to migrate to aus in Nov. I am aussie citizen by descent also lived there for 8 years in 1980's. My husband and I have been together for 17 years, married for 14 years, three lovely girls all aussie citizens by descent. All my family live in Aus.

We are just starting visa application for spouse visa, two questions
1)husband has high blood pressure is controlled on medication will this effect his application?
2)I am being thick because i cannot find how to do police checks.

any comments appreciated.

NB) Apologies in advance if any of the above has been discussed previously in this thread i have read bits but it's extremely long (and very informative)and i may have missed things.

Front loaded everything on 19/3, including passport. I'll give you a rough summary:

Both 24, been together since June 06, in de-facto since Sept 06. Submitted all forms (incl 80) and joint bank statements since June 07, copy of lease, a few photos, joint wills, few utility bills, 4 supporting statements (only one from an aussie) only had birth cert, passport and wills certified by accountant at my work and it was fine. Submitted application in person on the 19th, funds withdrawn same day, spoke to CO on Thursday this week, got visa in the post yesterday!

We supplied a special del envelope for them to send everything back to us, i have been on the Royal mail tracking site every 5 minutes for the last 10 days seeing if its been sent back to us!

Looking at flights for June now :)

Congrats - lots of celebrating this weekend then!!!! ours should go in in about 2 weeks (just waiting for some statements back from friends in Oz) - everything frontloaded, will hopefully be pretty straightforward as we're married with over 5 years evidence of defacto etc

Thanks guys! It really isn't worth all the stress, easier said than done I know but if we can get it then almost anyone can, the requirement really aren't that hard to meet, so long as your not a criminal and in good health then you will have no problems im sure.

Hi there,
Your not being thick at all!!! Its all so confusing when your putting your application together! All you need to do is contact your local police force, you can do this online, search their website for a form DP1 its for anything held on the Police National records and it costs £10 to get them and it takes about 40 days to get back as it gets sent to Scotland Yard. You can print the forms off online and send them off.

Hope this helps,

Caz x

PS not sure about the medical question sorry :o

Just get a letter from your GP to state that he has high BP but that it is controlled with medication.

Don't worry about this, as long as you mention it and show that it is being dealt with :-)

If they are filling in the forms in Australia they will have to take it to get signed by the relevant authority. A policeman can't sign these forms (according to our agent). A solicitor will be the best way to go.

I haven't even started on the dog yet except quotes, and according to Husbands job we are meant to be there by Nov.

oh well sanity is not one of my strong points:confused:

Nice one! The met should take a leaf out of their book!

Booked our flights today, £704 return and a £454 one way. Flying China Eastern who are probably the worst airline to fly this route with but i'll be so stoked to be going home the lack of in flight entertainment won't bother me!

All I need now is a miracle to get the exchange rate back to where it was 6 months ago and i'll be sweet. It's almost at $2.10 again :(

I'm sure you will hear from them in the enxt couple of days, they would have looked at everything else already so once they get the pcc presto! The visa is poor looking mind you, not even a photo in it. My whv for the UK looks much better! Doesn't make up for snow in spring mind you.

I did my medical today - feel so worried now!!! I thought it would be better after actually doing the medical, but now it feesl worse!:(

Everything was fine except my BMI.... and now we will probably have to wait another 2 -3 weeks before we now. The wait is what is killing me!!!!!:unsure::unsure:
