It amazes me. If Australia was crawling with dangerous, biting, attacking insects, no one would be alive:blink:

Of course, walter, you know that the venom from a funnel web can kill four elephants?

This is why there are no more native elephants living in Australia.

Two things worried me about living in OZ....
Snakes and spiders.
So I chose NZ instead.
After 6 years there, snakes and spiders seem tame in comparison.:rofl:

PS Still waiting to see a spider and a snake and been through lots and lots of nature reserves since getting here and seen.......ziltch!

Just do it!

Funnel Web Spiders, King Brown Snakes, Great White Sharks - Australia has them all. I think it's more likely that more people get killed on our roads in one week than in a whole year from animal attacks.

I think we used to get more spiders in the house in Scotland! Most of them that do come in the house are no different looking to average UK spiders. In four years I'd say I've averaged about one scary large huntsman incident per year....maybe if it had happened more I'd have got over it by now but as it stands they still freak me out!

Brisbane's eastern suburbs, particularly those on the bayside, are well known for the 'aranogiganticus'; quite literally 'gigantic spider' or as its refered to by the locals 'sweet baby Jesus, will ya look at the size of that'.

Prefered habitat: sandpits.

Just thought I'd give you a headsup.
