http://www.sper.qld.gov.au/how_sper_works.htm My Aussie license, with photo Id, and addy etc, and change of address sticker on the back... Went into HSBC in uk, to evidence some of my late fathers items, they would not accept my aussie license as a form of id, .. not because its aussie, but because of the sticker with new address on the back of it.. There words were , could easily be forged. Now, I did have my old Uk license with me, and passport. so all was good, but I wish I had gone into Argos now, opened up a credit acct and had it all billed to my old address in Coventry !!!! Re: Speeding Ticket

No but I think the laugh is on us all really. I mean if you think about it, how hard is it to actually just keep your vehicle at a sodding speed limit..

That's really interesting. I got a speeding fine just the other day from Bendigo. I have never been to Bendigo but my Edinburgh dwelling Dad was there just a few weeks ago in my car! Is there a link??
If I send the Edinburgh address, what happens to Dear Old Daddy? |
Re: Speeding Ticket
Update:
After the first speeding ticket (3 demerit points), I receive a further 2 (one from Brissy again) and the second one from Adelaide - blooming marvellous:curse::curse:. The second from Brissy $100 and one demerit point. From Adelaide, however $196 - but no mention of any demerit points or photo. AND hertz have charged me $99 for 'grassing' my details to the authorities:curse: So here's the scenario-- QLD=3 Demerit points SA= DON'T KNOW (did try the helpline nr, but freecall, so cannot get through) Will I also get the unknown demerit points from SA put on my eventual QLD licence once I apply? Does this all mean that I shouldn't bother with applying for car insurance as presumably the quotes will be astronomical? ps: are radar detectors legal in OZ? (just for information sake!), I intend to ride a tricycle in OZ when I eventually get there.;) BBQ-KING:confused: |

I might go back to blighty one day so it was worth EVERY cent... |
Re: Speeding Ticket
For crying out loud  We have THREE threads running with people publicising the fact that they have been caught speeding! WTF is it with some of you people! OK speed if you must, kill or maim someone if you must (not that any of this current lot appear to have done that), get the points, pay the fines.
BUT Don't moan about how the police are out to get you, how they are dirty rotten scoundrels who should be out catching murderers and rapists, don't boast about it on a public forum. Be ashamed, keep it quiet and, dare I say it, grow up. |
Re: Speeding Ticket
wow... sore spot...
totally agree with you moneypen.... but to get done for being a few km (less than 9) over on a piece of dual carriageway that suddenly goes down from 80 - 60 km with no built up... still feels harsh.... and I wasn't driving.. BUT you are totally right .... If the police new what a nagging bitch HE has as a wife they would have let him off... he will pay for it for years to come bless him... |
Re: Speeding Ticket
If you are pulled over by the Police, try pulling the old "very sorry old chap but I am here on holiday" line in your best of english accent. Flash them your British Driving Licence and see how you get on.
It has worked for me on two occasions now but I was driving someone else's car at the time. Alternatively, Stay within the speed limit. Barney:thumbup: |
