Hi, we have had a speeding fine sent to our UK address, as we where using a hire car at the time (FIL sent the fine over to us) now we got the speeding fine before we applied for the QLD driving Licence, so im wanting to know if the points will be placed on the Qld licence or will they go on the UK licence.
Thank you in advance.
(Mods sorry if i have put this in the wrong section, was sure where to put it)

You don't have the points physically written on your licence here, unlike the UK, so they just lurk around in cyberspace, much like many on here.

now now, please dont argue and fall out... can i just say we had only been in Oz 24 hours when we have got this speeding fine, and there were no speed limit signs on the highway. Normally we do keep to the speed limit and i have been driving for 18 years and have never had any points, although i have to say it was my hubby driving when the fine was allocated.
What would happen if my FIL had not sent us the fine document ? because it was sent to our UK address.

BUT
If you are now permanently resident in Australia ask your FIL to write to the UK police force issuing the ticket advising that you have permanently immigrated to Australia.
The UK Police Force will probably drop the charges!!
This happened to me just before I immigrated.

A bit heavy dont you think? You dont know that the OP wasnt on a deserted road going 1km over the limit.... sometimes it just accidently happens, not all speeding drivers are hoons you know... I can completely understand how you feel because of your experiences but a bit of advise, rather than this sort of attack was called for here I think..

My comment is not an implicit disagreement with the issue in question, which is that people should drive to the prescribed limit, but rather a tongue-in-cheek response to Bernie calling NorthernBoid an 'idiot', as yesterday he told me to 'take a chill pill' in response to me questioning why he was implying that my BIL was a liar.
