Monster Maze 3D for the ZX81. It fitted in 1K of memory
Also Football Manager for the zx81, it needed the 16K ram pack.

Best game for the 48K ZX spectrum was Lords of Midnight. I played that through the night in my bedroom sometimes.... Probably because it was soo bloody slow,

ZX80, ZX81, BBC, ZX Spectrum +2

Spent lots of my youth on Manic Minor and Elite. Had a grand prix racing game on the BBC which was great. So many games I can't remember now, but this thread has sprung a few memories.

I guess as Dean has mentioned downloading Elite, reckon I'm going to have to do that now... still a classic. Why is it with all the tech that you get with an XBOX (which is under the TV, dormant for many months now) you still don't get class games?

Mind you, thank f**k for not having to sit through all that screeching & buzzing only for it to spit the dummy!

Mate - that is true class. Your reputation is now at an all time high and we should all bow down and worship the very land on which you have passed..

I downloaded WinUAE Amiga emulator. Haven't tried it as yet. You need to also download the Kickstart roms as well and you can get these from a torrent site. Most games are freely available.

I had a spectrum - had both types

My fave games were

Skool Daze
Dizzy
Football manager
Frogger
Pacman
Had a rugby league game as well, think it was similar to Football one

The noise Spectrum made when it was loading was annoying !!!

I still have my Amiga, all still packed up somewhere. My favourite games were the James Pond games. Still have all my games too, but JP was def my fave.:o

I also had a Commodore 64. What a load of crap! I had The Hobbit game, which my mate completed. He told me to read the book, as it would help me in my quest. What another load of crap! Could never get past the huge bulbous eyes without getting squished, or whatever they did to you.

And every time you went anywhere, there was a constant stream of game characters constantly arriving and leaving your location like they had some sort of attention deficit disorder. And it was easy to get lost too.

Most annoying game of all time.

I completed it once and then could never manage to do it again. I think it was pretty random.

Ah, you refer to the ever present 'R tape loading error'

My first HD was an ICL mainframe backup with a whopping 2.5 MB size, and was the size of two washing machines stuck together. Never managed to get it working or linked to anything, so eventually took it apart. Managed to recover two hoofing great magnets and 3 0.2 F capacitors that we used to melt metal nails across the contacts...

As for computers, I variously had:

Spectrum
Atari ST
Atari Mega ST
Acorn A5000
Acorn RiscPC

I really liked the Acorn machines - they were so easy to use, but the technology just couldn't keep up, and no good for games either.

As for games, I think that to this day Quazatron on the Spectrum is one of the first and finest 3D games ever written. And anything by Ultimate - Attic Attac, Underworld, Lunar Jetman, Alien 8 to name but a few. Saboteur on the Spectrum was good too...
