Re: Spectrum? Amstrad? Atari?
Monster Maze 3D for the ZX81. It fitted in 1K of memory
Also Football Manager for the zx81, it needed the 16K ram pack. Best game for the 48K ZX spectrum was Lords of Midnight. I played that through the night in my bedroom sometimes.... Probably because it was soo bloody slow, JTL |

Re: Spectrum? Amstrad? Atari?
ZX80, ZX81, BBC, ZX Spectrum +2
Spent lots of my youth on Manic Minor and Elite. Had a grand prix racing game on the BBC which was great. So many games I can't remember now, but this thread has sprung a few memories. I guess as Dean has mentioned downloading Elite, reckon I'm going to have to do that now... still a classic. Why is it with all the tech that you get with an XBOX (which is under the TV, dormant for many months now) you still don't get class games? Mind you, thank f**k for not having to sit through all that screeching & buzzing only for it to spit the dummy! |

He told me to read the book, as it would help me in my quest. What another load of crap! Could never get past the huge bulbous eyes without getting squished, or whatever they did to you. |

One thing that really bugged me was u waited about half an hour (or so it seemed @ that age) while the thing squealed and such like, then it said 'load error' or something to that effect and ud to rewind and start again lol
Ah, you refer to the ever present 'R tape loading error'

My first hard disk was a 5MB 2nd hand thing the size of a house brick and I had to drive down to Manchester to collect it from someone. Now I've got a drive on my desk which is 200,000 times that capacity in the size of a paperback.
As for computers, I variously had: Spectrum Atari ST Atari Mega ST Acorn A5000 Acorn RiscPC I really liked the Acorn machines - they were so easy to use, but the technology just couldn't keep up, and no good for games either. As for games, I think that to this day Quazatron on the Spectrum is one of the first and finest 3D games ever written. And anything by Ultimate - Attic Attac, Underworld, Lunar Jetman, Alien 8 to name but a few. Saboteur on the Spectrum was good too... S |
