Whats your experience with them??
Ive just picked up glasses on friday, one pair multifocals, came in way over (double+) the advertised price with upgraded lenses etc and the bloody things are awful. Supposed to be same prescription as the other ones I got in OZ but blury and they also have almost 'cokebottle' thickness lenses which is a bit of a suprise as they are top whack upgrade:sneaky: Will take them back of wonder whats reasonable to expect them to do, replace? adjust? and are the cokebottles really top of range:sneaky: anyone else with specsavers? are you happy with the product? I am wondering where they were made too, took almost 3 weeks to get them, partner reckons they are probably cheapos from some indian website, but maybe he has a point. |

Be careful with connies. I've just had a 'keratopathy' and 'corneal edema' from some dodgy connies the Cairns specsavers sold me. Not nice - as painful as childbirth of the eye.

You have to be very diligent with disinfecting and cleaning contact lenses here. This is the sub/tropics - moulds and bacteria will grow anything and everywhere at astonishing rates.

I'm surprised that they didn't suggest "thin" lenses anyway? My son would have coke bottles if they didn't but they always suggest the thinned out ones - it does cost a bit but as he manages to make his glasses last 2 years on average, I don't mind. (Not bad for a 9 yr old sport freak!).
For a child eye test, I have a lot of confidence in their check ups, much more than our local opticians. Dunno what the eventual result will look like coke-bottle-wise but so far I'm impressed. $600 for two pairs of multifocals - and I'm picky about the frames, could have done it $100 cheaper if I was prepared to have standard ones, but if I've got to wear the stupid things I want to wear something I like the look of! Thats still half the price I paid 3 years ago, thank goodness for Specsavers & for 2-for-1 offers!! |

The last place always made me feel that it was my fault my eyes were dodgy (which it isn't,it was down to shingles, and that I was almost an inconvenience because they are both so different.

Re: Specsavers
Wouldn't trust Specsavers as far as I could throw them. Yes a mass generalisation but after a really horrible experience with them in the UK and then hearing a friends nightmare with them here it's an opinion I'm sticking with.

Rang me later to complain about my attitude and how I should accept that they are the experts and obviously know more about eyes than I do. |

Thanks :( Thats given me a lot of faith in getting something from them that I can actually see through :D I was just congratulating myself on emerging for a change from an encounter with a branch of the medical world without being a nervous wreck, but maybe I spoke too soon!!!

Re: Specsavers
Going into the Logan Hyperdome branch tomorrow to pick up a new pair of everyday glasses and prescription sunnies, had no issues so far, the service has been great and very professional.
Ain't going to pay a cent either, which is always good. |
