What are the sounds that make you instantly react with an 'love it' 'hate it' type response, and why?
I'm sat here, nodding off, about to go to bed (in the UK at present) and its RAINING!!! A beautiful amazing sound that I have heard many times in the last three weeks but it still makes me smile. After so much dry weather in Queensland I am loving the rain here.

Bird "song" (as opposed to bird screech) does it for me although I do love the rain - gentle relaxing litter patter - too.

That reassuring "psst!" sound of an ice cold bottle of beer being opened

I love the sound of rain pounding on the tin roof, it means my tanks are filling nicely. Hopefully we'll get some decent rain soon. 10 mm since May

I meant to put a reason. I like listening to streams because they're full of life and mystery and seem to sing.
I also love the sound of a distant rooster crowing in the morning. For me it heralds the start of a new day in a peaceful, rural environment.

Oh & they just bought a rescue donkey that brays all night, I haven't seen it yet but wonder how it gets it's ears under the red & yellow cap.

The sound of the Australian bush is great. You know when you are either camping or in a cabin and you wake up early, grab a coffee and then head out. The mist in the gum trees and a kookie making a call.
Love the sound of rain also, which will be coming to Sydney later this week according to the forecast
Hate the sound of my colleague destroying his apple or slurping his tea every ****ing day

That's a good point. Lots of blackbirds are/were good singers
