We had a game of poker once with some old casino chips, no money involved, just the chips. I have never seen people get so wound up by losing some worthless bits of plastic in my life. Proper tempers and that was amongst friends. I thought fists were going to fly at one point.
Think I'll stick to the odd fiver on the horses.

Chris.

where do you play em?
I play on Pokerstars.net. Mostly just for play money on the big stakes, but sometimes I play for real money. I love it!

Deb & I both play in the APL league. Deb has played in the QLD state finals twice, made the top 50 each time but way off the money
I just play for fun, once a week, though Deb played twice/three times a week last season for the points to qualify for state.
I've won a few times this season & am currently 2nd in the region.
It's very addictive if your of the type that has addictions.
If you have a facebook account you can play at either Texas Holdem or Poker Palace
http://apps.facebook.com/pokerpalace/
http://apps.facebook.com/texas_holdem/

The RSL at Maroochydore has APL nights Ems if you fancy playing with real chips & real people [for free]

yeah, it's a whole different game online versus in person. Although playing online I find makes you more aware of player habits and betting behaviour as you do not have the body language sense to help you. So I think there are different skills to both forms.

I just love it full stop, especially if you've got some mates over and everyone brings $50 and play til the death. We used to do it all the time back in the UK. Bring our own drinks, have a few laughs and someone would walk away with a nice little purse. We all used to bring 20 quid, which we would have pissed up a wall within 20 mins if we'd gone out on the town.

I prefer to play face to face, some folks just give a good hand away immediately they look at it. One lad I play with shakes so bad if he gets a high end pocket pair we all just fold. He was dealt AA once & was so excited he threw them over pre flop

I just play for fun up at the surf club here in Peregian... I am a total beginner, but love the whole thing.. I couldnt play for money (would be too much of a wuss) but its a great laugh usually.. you get some who get all serious, but they are usually few and far between.. have met loads of new friends too.. havent play online.. think it the socialising thing that pulls me in..

Should have re-thought the whole phrasing of my original post haha! S&M really ain't my thing! As the late Michael Jackson said.. Im a lover not a fighter!
