Default So sad, what makes parents act like this?

Not sure how wide the publicity on this sad story has been, but i know there have been similar ones on the past. What makes parents/guardians act like this with their children?

I guess its more than just attntion seeking, they must be sick themselves in some way, mentally and/or emotionally?

Save her life then seek answers, beg family of girl allegedly poisoned by her 22-year-old mother with chemotherapy drugs

The little girl's mother displayed images on Facebook that showed the decline of her daughter's health, including the bruises on her legs.

THE grandparents of a little girl allegedly poisoned with chemotherapy drugs have asked people to turn their hate to prayers as she battles on in hospital.

A Facebook page followed by thousands on the four-year-old's battle with a mystery illness was overrun by furious supporters yesterday after her mother was charged with causing grievous bodily harm, accused of feeding drugs to the girl over a 10-month period.

Police will allege the 22-year-old mother-of-two bought the chemotherapy medication from an overseas supplier over the internet, giving it to her both at home and throughout her stays in hospital where doctors tried to work out what was wrong.

The woman updated a Facebook page almost every day, telling more than 7000 people of her girl's plight.

"Will our life be forever like this?" she wrote in March. "Will I constantly worry about blood counts, the drastically increased risk of secondary leukaemia, worrying about relapse?

Sounds very much as though the mother is suffering from Munchausen's by Proxy, and cdertainly needs a lot of help herself.

Yes it sounds like it. Presumably seeking the excitement of dealing with doctors and concerned well-wishers.

Unfortunately the way people get all hyped up on facebook feeds into it.

Thats what I was thinking, so sad that the child is suffering in order for the mother to get help. And can you imagine nursing and treating a child like that, and finding out the cause isn't from the child having a genuine" illness, must really be hard to deal with the parents and relatives after that

It also takes a long time for them to diagnose the problem, especially if the mother brings the drugs in while the child is there and gives her them, which makes even worse. The doctors may also do quite invasive tests which could cause problems. As the mother has been giving her chemotherapy drugs, there must now be a distict possibility of fertility and other problems when she reaches puberty.

Poor little girl. And poor granny - both her daughter and granddaughter need help.

Just seen a movie which may throw some light on this subject... Attention seeking and using family to get attention on the Net.

Catfish.
