OK, Sarah I have just read Alan Carrs book and have completely changed my mind - I think you should buy her it.
After reading his book I can only say one thing: I am a non-smoker and will not pick up another cigarette as long as I live. Anyone who knows me, will not believe that :D but my whole perception of smoking and stopping smoking has changed within the 3 hours it's taken me to read that book to the point where I feel physically sick at the thought of having another cigarette.

I can't believe it myself. When I got the book this morning the next shop I went into was the smokemart and I bought a carton of B&H. :o
I haven't had a cigarette since 4:30pm, which although it isn't long normally when I try to stop I would be pulling my hair out and wandering around aimlessly trying not to think about a having ciggy. Instead I'm sat here smiling thinking I do not want a cigerette. |
Re: Smokers

Re: Smokers
You should be very, very proud of yourself for giving up smoking. You can see from the timeline above that you will have already made improvements to your health. As an ex smoker, gave up 13 years ago, I know how hard it can get. Keep going, jacqui:D |

Well done. Its hard to describe to peope what the book is about. But I would only say that your story should inspire people to be open minded and read it.

Well it's been almost 24 hours since my last cigarette. It's been quite hard this morning, and I think it's because I didn't have my 'special' ciggie - for me thats the one first thing in a morning that doesn't actually taste of anything and doesn't do anything at all for me as I need another within 10 minutes . But I have resisted all temptation and as the day is going by it's getting easier. |
Re: Smokers
:thumbsup:Keep going Wendy !!!! I found day 4 and 5 the hardest, day 6 almost over and I have nt even thought about it today. In fact I walk passed a woman this arvo who was puffing away and it stunk !!!!

Was you thinking about giving up before this thread, or did the thread prompt you to go out and buy the book? I'm expecting mine any day :) |
Re: Smokers
Wow you guys are doing great. That book is bloody good. Having the "i'm a non-smoker" attitude right from the start is a really good way to look at it.

Amanda It IS hard - no doubt about it. I gave up 12 years ago and understand what it feels like. It does get a lot easier - I promise. I found chewing gum helped me when ever I fancied a fag, I'd chew instead. |

Well done Wendy! Stay on here and chat until the feeling passes. $73,000 - Oh my, that is well worth giving up for. Don't forget the compound interest if you put the price of a packet of fags into the bank everyday. Now work out what you'll save in 6 months and what lovely things you'll buy with that money!
