Hi
Has anyone bought and imported a large item such as an American style fridge from UK to Aus (much more expensive here)?
Or a retailer of the Smeg 320L fridge in Australia?
Thanks Jux

I don't know about importing fridges, but I do know you have posted in wrong forum......it isn't directly (or indirectly) related to "Immigration, Visas & Citizenship", so I guess you will be moved soon.

Lots of huge fridges and freezers here and Smeg sold here as well. If you've got a container coming you'd be daft notl put everything in it including the fridge.

Might I offer a warning against Smeg. I appreciate my cautionary tale may simply be a curse placed upon me by gypsies some decades ago - however:
I have, in the space of 2 years had 3 Smeg ovens go on me to end up entirely replaced with brand new ones - oh yes which then died.
A smeg microwave which has packed up. A cook top which is now just dodgy.
I used to believe very much in Smeg. Now I shall stalwartly be buying any other make. Its to the point that I feel building my own fire and just cooking over that is more reliable.
Oh did I mention the service call out costs in Australia for Smeg are massively expensive and the parts take months to arrive in ?

As for bringing a fridge - sure if you have room and dont want to sell the one you have got.

I can only agree with Centurion - we rented a place with Smeg and it was rubbish.
Probably in the "Red Dwarf" nomenclature <g>.

I have SMEG fridge, washing machine and dishwasher. All two years old and still running perfectly. I will have to leave them behind though because we will be renting out the house and it is expected that appliances are provided.
