Ban women drivers.
I just saw the report on the news. She made a completely false allegation that could have resulted in the cop losing his job yet walks away scot free:frown: Surely common sense should come into the deliberations of the judge. It will make for a very interesting scenario if we all started wearing the Burqa. Can you imagine the furore when cops can't ask you to remove it. The burqa may well become the standard disguise for every bogan feral that wants to rip off a servo or a bottle shop:rolleyes: |

Re: Should Aus ban the Burqa?
While I have little time for Islam and it's values, beliefs and teaching and think that it is a threat to our western way of life, I think that a government telling people what they can, or cannot wear, goes beyond their remit. Government interferes too much into our lives as it is, this would be a step too far.

Re: Should Aus ban the Burqa?
What if a female Muslim motorcycle rider walked into a bank with a crash helmet on?
She would quite rightly be asked to take it off. But underneath she would be wearing a burqua which she can refuse to take off. If she then robbed the bank and was arrested somewhere outside the bank she now has a legal precedent to say that it wasn't her under the burqua. What a ridiculous situation that court created. |

I just find it ironic that those who have a problem with the attire tend to do so because they see it as an extreme behaviour to wear (or be made to wear) one and they want to address this by using an extreme policy by banning it.
Why not just have a policy that burqa-wearing women must unveil for identification purposes to the law?

hang on, I thought you had a problem with the burqa, not the fact that she lied? Cops are forever being accused of mistreatment by non-burqa wearing people.

Re: Should Aus ban the Burqa?
Do we ban Nigella Lawson wearing the burquini as well? Ban Tracy Grimshaw, ban Abbott, GLard, Channel 9, Offspring, ACA,TT, ash clouds and Broccoli.
