Wouldn't have got anywhere (not that we're much farther now!)....
Reading about other people's experiences, especially those who like us have got children with ex partners who don't wish to be helpful, made us realise that we do have some hope & gave us the confidence to give it a bash
We still might not be able to emigrate, but at least with the help of this site, we'll be able to say we tried
Cheers everyone - Merry Christmas & all that slushy stuff

I dont think we would have got through the whole visa process without the help and support found on here.

The visa application part was not difficult for us. We did all that before I found this site or any other for that matter. It's the network of friends and acquaintences I've made that I like here. I met my best friend on here as well as a couple of others who I can truly call friends. I have also met some really nice people who are great to have a laugh with and some who I wouldn't give the sweat off my left eyebrow if they were dying of thirst.

I agree, we have had some great advice and support from this forum. It's sure is nice to know your not alone in what your going through.

Seriously, over the 4 or so years that I have been posting here in various forms I can honestly say that I have come to think of all of you as internet posters.

Once you have the visa, how helpful it is depends on the forum, the thread (as people sway between serious, sensible and silly depending on the mood of the day) and the readers interpretation of any given posts.
