Why is it that a few people seem to tear apart anyone who dares to say they are unhappy, frightened etc? I find myself searching through tons of previous posts to find the info I want rather than risk sarcasm and being told not to bother coming if I am anything less than 100% certain about everything to do with emigrating. Well, I am proud to say that I am scared shittless and excited beyond belief in equal measures!!!
I am giving up so much to go to Aus and am totally determined to make it work, but that does not mean that I do not have doubts and worries. Surely that is normal.
Don't get me wrong, most of the people on here are fantastic and helpful and I have had some lovely pm's and I'm not aiming this at anyone in particular, but I wish some people would give constructive advice rather than smart put downs. I for one need all the help I can get and greatly appreciate any given.
Ok, well rant over. Hope I haven't offended anyone as this was never my intention. Suppose I'd better sit back and wait for the put downs!

It is completely normal for your emotions to be all over the place and for doubt to creep in, particularly if you feel you're taking a risk leaving the UK behind. I'd spent two years here in my 'youth' doing the backpacking thing before we migrated as a family and thought I knew what to expect but surprised myself at my reaction to our new life. But 7 months down under and we're all loving it. Clearly a little research is a bonus but nothing can truly prepare you for 'living the dream'. Just go for it, you'll love it!

we are like you, scared beyond belief but still looking forward to it. The only thing we are sure about is that we dont want to be in england anymore. So it HAS to work in OZ.
The thing that is stopping us from giving up is that we want a better way of life for the kids. We cant think of a single reason why we should stay, so.......
we are going.
We cant see a future here for us, let alone what it will be like when they grow up.
Before anyone asks, that is not the only reason why we are going. there are plenty more.

Thanks for your replies. You are all making me feel 'normal' - although oh would probably say I'll never be that! lol.

You summed up my feelings well & naturally, I think that is normal
I agree that people should think carefully before posting. Occasionally I can't resist a witticism but I do try to ensure it is read as such by using the smilies. I have read some really hurtful & very self-opinionated stuff on here, that I know for a fact has stopped OP from further postings. I feel that is a real shame & not what the forum is for. I do believe however, that no-one should take serious note of the nasties & just make use of all the really great, supportive & helpful folk who are on here!
(That's my rant over, sorry!)
