Is this the way to go anyone??
I've seen the Navman for $500 odd or the Tom Tom 'One' for $800 odd.
I know very little about Sat Nav to be honest, but the time has come and it's just I've heard of the Tom Tom brand before.
And does anyone use one on The Gold Coast, does it work well?
Cheers ...

Just need to try and find where I'm going really ...lol
My time is up on the laptop I'm being told, gotta run.
Only gripe I guess is we're all desperate for the house stuff to arrive!
It's due the end of the month tho so just hoping that goes smooth.
Gotta go, I hate it when teenage daughters shout! ... :scared:

I've got the TomTom software for my Ipaq with maps for loads of countries, only used the Uk ones as yet but it has taken me everywhere i have asked it to, granted sometimes it has tried to take me down a farm track :scared: but i just miss that turn and it recalculates the route straight away.

I use my $15 UBD of the Gold Coast - haven't got lost yet or misdirected or stuck in a traffic jam
PS: Also got the $25 Brisbane, GC and SC - haven't got lost on that one yet either. And I can shut it up

Bit of discussion on this a few weeks ago: link
Looks like Tom Tom gets the thumbs up.
BTW, one thing I like about Tom Tom is that it's fully portable, so there's no installation and you can carry it around when you're on foot. Does anyone know if this applies to other SatNav systems?

It did occasionally tell us we could get down a road when it was a dead end but then that happens on the UK maps as well.
I found it invaluable as the missus doesn't like map reading (not many women do) and it takes the stress out of all the driving. We also found we were more likely to explore more as we knew we could find our way back easily.

I have had a Navman Pin unit (the one that looks like a PDA and sticks to the windscreen) since arriving in Australia, and it has been a life saver. It has taken me all over Australia, and surprises some locals when it shows you a quicker way than you have been using for years. Also I have downloaded the speed camera locations from Ebay, and this must have saved me at least a ticket or two. Amazing little piece of equipment, if you are car buying, I recommend this as your second purchase in Oz as it will save you time, money (in wasted petrol getting lost!) and arguements with the partner. Dick Smith has them pretty cheap. Cheers
