Rudd's at it again

He hasn't been back in the job 2 weeks and already he's splashing the cash.
He's giving the Indonesians $60 million to set up a meat industry so they don't have to buy meat off us.
Why is it that every politician needs to get the cheque book out when they visit Asia?

It is bribery in the hope that they will play ball with regards to the boat people.

It's 6 months worth of beef exports to Indonesia spread over the next 10 years. The export market to Indonesia is worth $120 million per annum. It removes the embargo & will make the industry worth even more. A no brainer really, far better than paying the beef industry compensation worth ten times that amount.

How many foreign trips do you think Rudd can squeeze in before the election?

The $60M will be paid to Australian companies, over ten years, and they will hopefully benefit financially from the growing Indonesian Meat trade market, with tax then coming back to the ATO on their profits.
In theory it sounds good ! But then, so did the Roof Insulation project, and the Water Desalination project, and the Mary River Dam, and the.... etc etc

Well he's at it again.
PNG this time and he's promised them $160,000,000 in aid.
Where to next?

Australian Aid given to PNG each year is already much higher than that.
$500.7 million 2012/13
$507.2 million 2013/14 Budget
Is this $160m part of the existing budget ?
