Re: Romanian Gypsies
It won't be as drastic as that. Why would an energy self-sufficient USA worry about The Straits of Hormuz and keeping them open if the Iranians decide to chuck their toys out? Answer is, they won't but who has a navy capable of doing it? Certainly not the UK or the rest of Europe. China maybe
Iran would be dictating terms - and there would not be much we could do about it
At least we have cradle to the grave welfare though.......

It wouldn't be one country if the UK came out of the EU - there is still the Common Travel Area so Ireland would make a second option.

Well thought out and researched analysis.
Actually most of the Irish seem to be in Perth nowadays

Yup, definitely. and that sort of thing would happen again and again. Sadly the UK public see the EU as this huge bureaucracy that makes decisions that effect it unilaterally, and with no consultation. But there is always consultation, and a voting process. In fact, trying to get concencus from 20 countries can be no easy task...

It's a word that the EU bureaucracy has taken upon itself to use as a method of preventing democracy within the EU.
Only a very small proportion of EU dictates are ever seen by the elected MEPs, and are passed into law by default. Basically, the bureaucracy dictates how we live unfettered by the annoying requirement of elected officials (who can at least be held accountable) having any kind of input.
There's an excellent book - available free - by an ex- committed Europhile which shows just how little democracy there is now left in the EU. I haven't got it with me but read, and learn.
If one is barking mad to be afraid of the huge con trick that is the EU (and I was one who voted for the common market, before it was revealed as a trick to get a federal Europe) then count me as barking.
Unfortunately the UKIP is the only party in the UK that recognises the fact - I say "unfortunately" because many of their other policies are ill informed. But I would still vote for them purely on the one issue - get out. About the only silver lining in the Euro fiasco is that if Merkel carries on to the bitter end it might be the beginning of the end of the EU as well as the Euro.
(EDITED) - OK, found it: http://www.pacteurope.eu/comitology-...-edition-2013/
Unfortunately it's no longer free. But well worth a few €s if only to find out where this experiment is going.

Norway and Switzerland are not in the EU but "de facto" have to follow EU rules, without having a voice in Brussels. Impractical to leave.
A handful of London bankers and financiers want to leave the EU because they are scared of regulation in the financial sector. They are the ones pulling the levers to try and get London out !

Easily fixed. Any (ANY) migrants who get free passage home on the taxpayer purse should only be funded on the understanding that they cannot come back for a specified period of time.
