But that sort of view is now being reinforced by She Who Must Be Obeyed.

It's really quite interesting when you look at the completely polar opposite approaches between the Palette and Gladys.

Both are appealing to their voter base no doubt, which first and foremost says a lot about the differences between NSW and Qld but its amazing how the Palette has realised her best political weapon is striking fear into the voter base of Queensland.

Politically she probably has the approach correct, but morally its totally screwed up. Its mental abuse.

What was your epidemiologist qualification again?

Again, get a grip.

Even Gladys is focused on maintaining social contact restrictions, particularly in "LGAs of concern"--where all the Labor voters live--as a firebreak on the Delta outbreak, until higher 2-dose vaccination levels are achieved across the population as a whole.

Holding the fort, until truly significant levels of vaccination are achieved, remains the best strategy under present circumstances. If Covid does evolve to represent some significant threat after that--not a foreordained outcome-- then deal with that.

Vaccination is a no brainer to the 70 to 80 pct of adult population. It's after that figure is reached where Covid will make it's mark felt in Australia. Victoria's shift in policy re-opening with Covid yesterday came along with the warning there will likely be 1000's cases once the restrictions are shifted. Courtesy of Brett Sutton himself.

Not sure what breakfast cereal packet you are reading from but how about taking closer attention to what the experts here are actually saying.

All of that is without the almost 100pct certainty that we will be dealing with more vaccine resilient, contagious mutations that Covid reportedly has already produced.

Left hand not talking to the right hand in Queensland again.

Queensland politics is out of control. The Palette and her government are barracking for an outbreak so they can get themselves out of the corner they have themselves boxed into. Scare mongering at its finest.

Wow, that Annastacia is the Queen of Fear Mongering, she reminds me a bit of the Queen of Hearts from Alice in Wonderland….’off with her head’. To be honest, I used to be frustrated about it all, then angry and now just plain old tired and a bit heartbroken as well. Totally agree with the view on how history will look back on this, especially on the political, inhumane and mass controlling one liners that are being outed. Did some Citizenship tests to try out a while ago, Mateship being the true blue Aussie culture, not right now tho. Sorry Pollyana thatbyou had to hear a comment from that lady about you being the cause of her daughter’s death, wow!!! Over here kids and young adults (without underlying issues) have nothing to fear from Covid, except from transmitting it to unvaccinated people. Currently 85% of over 18’s have been vaccinated at least once here (the Netherlands). More if you count in the 50% of over 12’s who have had it. Although some minor restrictions, there are over 2,000 positive PCR test a day, hospitalisation is under control and manageable. Covid is not really in the news anymore, just talks about Afghanistan, Climate Change and CO2 reduction. Oh, forgot, yup Formule1 races are talked about, the ine thing we can’t do is go to nightclubs or multiple day festivals, hence why there is an uproar on Formule1 going ahead with 75,000 visitors (outside have to be seated) per day. Me, just somebody who has been planning to go back since mid 2019, aiming back then for mid 2020….yeah right.

I see the CHO Paul Kelly has totally tripped up the Palette today.

3 out of the 3,815 children under 12 who have contracted Covid in the current NSW outbreak have ended up in ICU. The 3 had severe underlying health conditions. None of the 3 died fortunately. 2 thirds of these cases had no symptoms

She is a piece of work.

How to create more fear. Bring children into it.

It's a disgrace. This woman has a rap sheet a mile long now.

What about the 3 year old on a cattle ranch staying with his grandparents who see no one other than cows. FFS. As far as we know cows don't get Covid

She's hankering to utter the words "we need to live with the virus". She will be blaming it on a Lebanese truckie from NSW while keeping a 3 year old from a cattle farm out.

The road to freedom just hit another speedhump.....

The Governor-General of Australia has tonight extended the human biosecurity emergency period under the Biosecurity Act 2015 for a further three months until 17 December 2021. This includes restrictions on the entry of cruise vessels within Australian territory, and restrictions on outbound international travel for Australian citizens and permanent residents.

Queensland is forecast to hit 80% about a week before this lagging the rest of the country, selfishly dragging everyone down. According to the national cabinet we can only enter Phase 3, when the whole country hits 80%.

Given there will be a lot of bogan vaccine hesitation in Queensland's that date sounds about right.

This was expected in the airline industry, hence why Qantas International flights as announced last week aren't slated to come back online until the 18th as things stand. Must have been some high up communication going on. Last I heard Emirates were looking at December for the A380 to return to SYD. BA have pencilled in their SYD flights for a March return though. Most of the others are probably waiting on a firm decision before committing any major increases.

Not sure who is going to look after all these additional flights and aircraft. Most of us are still not returned after what will be 21 months of international shut-down by then.

Most likely a slow build up rather than opening the flood gates.

Phase B at 70% sees the return of the previous caps for non vaccinated arrivals and increased caps for vaccinated travellers. Phase B also allows for the return of international students and increases in incoming business travellers.

Oh, please.

The open-up-to-Covid-and-live-with-it crowd has been quite happy to use 'children as political props' as a tool to advocate for school-reopenings, despite teachers *still* not receiving priority access for vaccine allocation.

Children of whatever age are hopeless at consistently following social-distancing rules and mask-fitting obligations. Yet the open-up-to-Covid-and-live-with-it crowd expects teachers to embrace school re-opening, before they've had access to vaccines.
