I think that with social media things are more widely reported and with greater speed and audience. I remember many years ago reading a biography about Jane Fonda - there was a section of the book about her mums suicide - she slit her own throat. Henry Fonda was able to shield his children from the details of their mothers death for many years, I don't think that could happen today. Maybe privacy is not a respected thing any more.
