If he has committed suicide (not been confirmed that I can see) then I not only feel for his family who have to pick up the pieces but for the suffering he went through before making this tragic decision. I wouldn't condone a person for it as unless you have lived in their head and gone through what they go through you can not judge the decisions he made. Its a terrible shame that he didn't get the help he needed to avoid this.

RIP Gary Speed

None of this alters the fact that 2 innocent boys now have to grow up without a father.

Neither. Personally don't give a shit. Just seems a bit strange.

I wondered why it was so quiet - strange, always thought it a bit of a fringe activity.

No it doesn't, but there is absolutely no excuse for some of the language, insults and tasteless "jokes" which have been bandied around in this thread.

Have some respect for his family and friends who are mourning him, and remember there may well be some of them on BE. Those of us who have lost loved ones to suicide know only too well the pain, confusion and grief that results from the act, and we can do without some of the heartless comments being bandied around.

Cut it out please, as Sue requested earlier.

Make your mind up - from the diatribe posted on here it sounds like they would be better off without him.

Hardly. It'll be whatever the media wants us to know.

I dont think its very fair to criticise Gary Speed over taking his own life. Noone knows what goes on in another mans mind. Unfortunately people are too quick to make up their minds on what they believe happened.

I think you might find the coronors report will tell all.

Personally I don't care to read all the other crap in the media.

Agreed.

His kids are now left with the suicide stigma.

No, something doesn't quite add up somewhere. Does anyone know if he left a suicide note?

Thoughts are with the family.

Suicide isn't funny for those that are left behind, particularly when it's so fresh. And full disclosure, it's hard for me to be unbiased having had a family member take her life, so I couldn't sit by and watch some of the rather tasteless remarks I've seen being posted.

So fair dues, if you are going to joke ok, but at least wait for the dust to settle a little eh? ;)

Thanks

Won't really matter will it, it's topical news now, tomorrow it'll be chip wrappers & exactly the same people will still be offended no matter when the jokes appear.
Can you see a tabloid newspaper Editor saying "Hold off with that story Mr Journo we need to let the dust settle a bit"

I am a member of a few other message boards, some football specific and a few other general ones and some comments in here are some of the most tasteless I have come across.

I don't care if those certain posters call me a boring chunt and have no sense of humour or just 'don't get it'.

Is that the level you see yourself at? Why not try aiming a little higher than the gutter trash that they are.

Piss off. Where's the diatribe that I wrote? I said that speed was a twat for leaving a wife and 2 innocent boys behind. What's wrong with that?

Tosser.
