Any chance you can change the name of this thread, it makes it sound like the police are in the wrong when they are clearly working hard to help people. I see it was originally meant to be sarcastic but now looks a bit inappropriate

Yes can someone change the title of the 29 page thread to something more PC and acceptable.

I was laughing at your knee-jerk reactionary stance - you had decided your "side" before you had an ounce of information or evidence, once it appeared that he didn't shoot at the police at all and they, in fact, shot at themselves, you spin to a backup argument rather than waiting to actually have a clue about what happened.
I saw someone post on BE the other day about Muslim bombs in Norway, before the egg hit him in the face and it was shown to be nothing to do with them.
Do you know if the gun was even in his hand at the time or in the glove box? If he had it in his hand and wasn't in the middle of putting it on the floor then there is clearly a rational argument for self-defence by the police officer, but it could just have been in the car and then we are going along the lines of a police execution. I suspect we'll have to await some real information before a valid position can be gauged.

As for my "knee-jerk reactionary stance"... well I stand by it. If the twat had a gun then he deserved everything he gets. My tolerance, or sympathy for armed drug dealers is nill.

I'm all for it. How about "Drug dealing low-life taken out by the Met"? or "One less oxygen thief to worry about"?

It makes me chuckle when the police in the UK are called "riot police" - when there is a riot. They are ordinary coppers wearing riot gear.
You are right. The "Bobby on the Beat" doesn't need riot duty on top of his/her daily work. There should be a separate force for these situations. But not the army. It's not their job either.

Group. Unfortunately they had somewhat of an image problem and changed their name to the TSG along the way.
These guys are the public order specialists, however are often not used in public order situations (doubt that would be the case this time) as the bosses fear criticism for being too heavy handed

Done. Decided on this rather than the other suggestions

This will mean absolutely nothing to almost all of you but the thought of a gang of Sarong Party Girls in ther kitten heels, storming in armed with their Gucci handbags, has tickled me no end. Actually...they'd probably get their men.
Sorry as you were.
