Reminder of home

Hello, I was wondering what foodstuffs you miss most from the U.K.? Certain tastes and smells can instantly transport you thousands of miles, what's yours?

Bisto - not that I miss it as you can find it over here. My Australian wife agrees that it is superior to Gravox.

Cadbury's mini eggs.

Proper gammon, though I have now found a butcher in Warringah Mall who does it, but it is very expensive, so I only buy it at Christmas and Easter. He does lovely sausages too - employs an Irishman and an Englishman.

I miss the food museums that British Rail used to have on their trains. Particularly Ye Olde Scotch Egg.

I do miss Scotch Eggs actually.

Wouldn't go out of my way to buy one though.

They're not hard to make - perhaps you should give it a bash? :D

(Personally, I'd add some herbs and a bit of chilli to the sausagemeat in the following recipe)

Easy peasy scotch eggs

I did the Heston Blummental ones the other week as a starter. They have a soft yoke and I served them with soldiers of asparagus to dip in. Yummy and easy as

Yes but you will be able to make up for it with visits to Coles or Woolworths or Coles or Woolworths or Coles or Woolworths...

You will love fillets of kangaroo, vegemite on toast, milo and lamingtons and your affection for these antipodean delicacies may quickly make Waitrose nothing but a distant memory.
