Question Are reality TV contestants fair game?

Just wondering what peoples thoughts are on this topic. If, by voluntarily entering a reality TV / competition type programme - does that make contestants fair game for the viewing public to comment on every aspect about them? Or not?

X marks the spot

First question on entry slip - Are you of an "X tro verted" personality?

Now tell me the contestants on "The most beautiful person" are not fair game?

Most definitely. Anyone that want to put themselves out there for all to see has to be prepared to open themselves up to scrutiny and whatever else goes with it; the good and the bad.

As the saying goes, if you can't handle the heat...

Says who?
What about common respect for other people? These people are real, with real feelings and emotions. They breathe, eat, sleep and bleed just like the rest of us.

Yes.

People have a tendency to make comment about others irrespective of whether those they are making commenting about, are on tv or not.

Unfortunately.

Pull your head out of your arse. If they can't take a bit of digging they shouldn't have gone on to these shows in the first place.

Isn't it just the price of fame though? By entering these sorts of competitions they are effectively becoming overnight celebrities surely?

We can all accept "a bit of digging" to some extent. But I think it wrong to scrutinise and criticise these people to the level that degrades them without reason or substance. There is no call for it.
I guess it's up to you though. By doing so it undermines the value of your opinion. That's my opinion.
