The Race is ON.....
 

I have three days to finish it...

A very special quilt for a very special little lady..

Its a disney cinderella fabric book, each page is a block, with sashings added in pinks and purples and turquoise matching disney fabrics

The back is pieced too ... Due to a miscalculation in fabric amounts.... Medications make quilters make mistakes...

Been working on it in 20 minute bursts since Last week....

Its sandwiched and the quilting has begun.... But the frame is out of action... And its having to be done on the domestic sewing machine.... And its killing me...

Have micro stippled round the sashing on each block and am now concentrating on the wider purple sashings ...quilting a leaves design... .... Have put a munted feather in each corner....

Just need to decide on the quilting pattern for the brick block outer sashing.. Might be feathers... Or might be meandering flowers.... Not sure yet...

But still have a heck if a way to go with it.... As well as the binding and a bag to put it in...

So a few late nights are in the offing...

HAS TO BE AT THE POST OFFICE FOR SATURDAY MORNING... To get the in time for the birthday...

Unfortunately machine has to be stripped down and cleaned and oiled before I can start tomorrow morning.....:thumbdown:

A munted feather is an attempted feather by a rank feather amature... They look like a derranged oakleaf...

After a brick border and a half they are beginning to look more featheresque...

One short and one side to go and its the binding... Then IF I have time I'll add some extra fine detail to the blocks... Just a little to add some interest... If not enough time... That will be IT!

However have to strip, clean and oil the baby before restarting this morning... She gets temperamental if you go more than two bobbins without cleaning her...

Hmmmn. Maybe that is why my machine is temperamental. Don't think I've ever cleaned it or oiled it. But then I don't really use it much either.

Quilting is Great "ME" time... Everyone knows to leave me alone unless asked for input, in whcih case they are supposed to make approving noises or suggest things that could be added...NOT UNDONE...

Kevin suggested me NOT quilting at 3 am, coz I have my machine set up two rooms away from them and apparently I nearly got a baseball bat to the back of the head to help me sleep this morning..

My firend has a 25 year old machine that has never been oiled and never been serviced.... She also has a janome 1600p QC like mine... If the janomes arent cleaned every two bobbins and oiled every day they develop personality disorders... And become very manipulative...

My MC6500 is much more forgiving in the grand scheme of things... But I still have to clean her everydau when she's been working hard, like she has recently

Ok... So the binding is MOSTLY machined onto the front.. Why is it, not matter HOW many frickin quilts I make I still habe to look up how to join the binding to the binding???

How many times have I done this????

Total mental block on it!!!!

Bugger it 10 inches into the handsewing I fell asleep and have only just woken up...

And the cats asleep on the half finished quilt... No thats a lie... The cat is licking its arse on the half finished quilt, I have the feeling he has just woken up though....

As long as there are no stains and you brush the hairs off she'll never know.

My machine is a Janome of some description. I can't see to thread it now, so it is gathering dust till I get my op.

used to have a Singer, which I had serviced every 2 years and could clean. This one is totally different. Has fancy stitch capabilities, but I've never used them apart from on a sample of fabric just to try them out. I might try some decorative strips for my card making, but I'm slumped in apathy right now, and can't see what I'm doing.

(Makes the house look cleaner to me!!!)

My janomes havr self threading feature... It the first self threader I've ever com across that works... Finished half the hand sewing but now the hand are willing but the back is saying NO NO NO NO NOOOOOO

Maybe after hydrotherapy I'll feel a lot looser.....

Maybe I'll just watch storage wars....

One thing... This sewing has reinforced how much my eyes have aged over the last six months... Takes ages to focus from near to far... Sewing to tv.. Have to find something to listen to insteas

I have one side left to hand sew.... Hydro therapy got in the way...Then any "extra" fine quilting on the blocks I can fit in before saturday..... When it gets mailed to Brisbane...

yup.... all washed, ironed, labelled etc... tho I was up til midnight friday redoing the label due to ipadfingeritis spreading to he alphabet on me machine and infecting the label.....

tho APPARENTLY i doesnt have to get to the post office til Monday...

promise piccies when I can get one of he kids to help me...

have started a new one.... its a big hush hush quilt... so no info on this one... other than its oranges and browns and blacks and for some one VERY special (just in case they are reading this over my shoulder)

I am putting MY insomnia to good use mate... Making it productive time, not time wasted on worrying about not being able to sleep..

Have pieced a new quilt top over the weekend... Amazing what you can achieve with a TENs machine attached to you whilst you're working....

am challenging MYSELF to finish this one by Saturday Morning.... But this is a personal challenge.... A quilt in a week... Two weeks running..

Pictures of the cinderella quilt exist... They're on a camera..and awaiting transferal to Facebook....

Takes longer to get a picture of my quilts onto here than it does to make the bloody things...

Im used to not being able to sleep and have learned to my cost about how lying in a dark room listening to relaxation music (suggested by family) will help. On steroids sitting doing nothing is the worst thing you can do although my family dont believe me - as you know you cannot silence a busy steroid mind.

I read or watch a DVD but I always have to do something - lying in bed would drive me nuts, I fall asleep eventually and now Ive gone half dose, Im doing better but I used to worry about not sleeping, its annoying but you find ways of coping.

Tonight I shall possibly read my new book I reckon.

I wore mine in the daytime, but I'm getting horrible hot flushes so took everything off when I went to bed!

What is it with my body??? I was on HRT for 10 years because of insomnia and dreadful flushes, then weaned myself off it, absolutely fine for 13 months, no flushes insomnia or period, then start the GF diet and get the flushes back and a suprise period!!!

do you think eating gluten was what caused a supposed menopause at 40? Is my body clock going backwards???

Electric blanket????

I just had the doona on last night and I may add, on 1mg of Dex, managed 4.5 hours sleep, woke up wheezing my tits off though as I forgot to have a nebulizer.

My PJs are cotton but I do need some fluffy ones.

I love winter, fluffy PJs, snuggled up in dressing gown, bed socks, heater on, blinds down on windows and listening to the wind/rain outside.

Until I have to drive in it - then I hate it.:o

Am going to fail on my next personal challenge... Second quilt completed in a second week....

In bed, sewed one side of the binding, but medication overtaking me... So will be asleep before I finish another 3 sides:(

Ho hum... Will have to extend my deadline by 24 hours....
