Mutts nuts mate.
Probably the best ally boats ever made here IMO. The millennium hull 5m with a 130 horse four stroke yammy is an awesome boat. If I had a spare 30k I'd buy one today.
I keep looking on ebay for a decent one to upgrade my Clarke tinnie

Thanks for that vote of confidence. Are looking at either the 540 or 580 down here in melbourne for $38,500 including trailer and Motor.

Both are excellent boats
Personally I wouldn't buy new as the depreciation is ridiculous not only that but the other little extra bits that you need/have to buy amount to a fair bit and are usually included with a good second hand one. Ebay has had a few lately less than 18 months old still under warranty for 10/15k less than new price, that's a couple of years worth of fuel & rego.
If your fairly new to boating & have the cash to spare new ensures your not buying a heap of junk though.
I did my boaties licence on a 540 they turn on a sixpence at 30 knots awesome boats. I've recently dived from a mates 580 spirit it had a 115 Mariner power plant, a good boat but he sold/traded it for a smaller one as it was too expensive to run fuel wise and too heavy to tow any distance.
Before you buy do they let you take them for a test drive as well as a test tow?

Used to have a 28ft haines hunter but don't need so much boat. Will end up buying used unless I gain a very good deal at next years Melbourne Boat show. More interested in spending money on a reliable motor and fishing kit. The crowd at JV Marine have a decent testing name and testing facilties.

Trying to restrict the boat size to something I can tow behind my Avalon (1600kg limit). Buzzy can do the diving (I mean shark baiting) while I will be heavily into snapper fishing.

Mags you may have more in common with me than you think

I have a 510 Freedom sport with a 90hp Mercury motor on it.It goes really well, wither towing a doughnut or fishing out at sea. I have had a problem with my windscreens crazing but after a few trips back to the dealer the problem has been traced back to the insulated Quintrex complete boat cover which they don't sell now. The heat was building up under the cover when the boat was in direct sunlight. Now it has a different cover and so far ok.
For fishing the bigger models you are looking at are probably better but you will need a decent 4x4 to tow them.
Just had to rego and insure them there's another $800's gone but worth it.
