Anyone who has actually received the Emergency Alert messages - feedback would be great - stuff like how understandable are the voice messages. They are a nightmare to do as we have to type out what we need the voice to say, and it comes down to things like "äntisipate" spelt with an S instead of C as it has to be phonetic. and six ay em instead of "6am". Its such a new thing that this is a really steep learning curve with the system. Any feedback welcome

And to think it wasnt that long ago that we would all pore over the BOM site praying for a tiny bit of blue to come over our place!

Yeterday's was a very scary prospect.

Hope you guys all keep safe today!

The eerie thing today is the silence. Normally leaving work Lutwyche Road is busy even at 6.30am, three lanes of traffic both ways, about a 20 minute walk. Today I reckon maybe 6 cars the whole way.

And its silent. Totally silent except for birds. I reckon I can hear every bird for miles. No traffic. Even at night its not this quiet.

Some useful floodmaps here:

http://www.soulsolutions.com.au/QLDFlood2011/

...a bit easier to work with than BCC's 5MB+ pdfs.

My friends place in Balmoral is absolutely just right on the edge of one of those yellow areas so fingers crossed for em!

Yeah good map.

We're still in a white part. Don't know for how long.

Sky saying after interviewing Julia with flooded Brisbane River City in the background they are now saying 20,000 possibly will be flooded when it's finished but they did add just guessing still.

Power figures have gone up slowly overnight. They are going to cut just before inundation so people stay on as long as possible.

Pretty clever Sky claiming Julia is "live now" with the river in the background when she's been in a meeting at work for the last hour  - a long way from the river

Anna will lose brownie points for announcing on ABC that our coordination centre is run by police and fire. EMQ will be making voodoo dolls of her by tonight
