Angry Pyschiartist's

Hi all
we went for our meds a couple of weeks ago and my son decided that he had suffered depression last year , Panel doctor told me that i would have to get a psychiatric report done to confirm that he is well now. Anyway went to see a private psychiatrist at the week end and she said and i quote "He's not depressed but i am not signing that report until he's had 6/8 sessions with me". At £50.00 per session. When i asked how long this would take (because we need it done asap) she never gave me a direct answer.
I have a feeling that she was trying to take us for a financial ride as she thought she had us over a barrel. Anyway, i have booked an appointment with his GP who will then refer him to a specialist, 2/4 week waiting period.
His GP has offered to write a letter explaining that it was just life change anxieties, but the panel doc has said that if we send a letter it may get sent back asking for the report. which will put us back at the beginning again. I guess a 2/4 wk waiting period is better that 6 months.
Thanks for reading - rant over

Better out than in Jackie lol

If it helps, you are not the only one - try getting a spouse visa when you have a son who isn't traveling with you, but is profoundly mentally handicapped and in care - I am working on my yogic breathing and patience, but the waiting is begining to get to me!!!

Hi Jackie, I would think if your son was diagnosed and treated for depression then it makes sense that the person that treated him would do the report, rather than paying for a 'private' consultation with someone who has only just met him. Hope you get this sorted. and I hope your son is now well on the mend.

Hi Jackie, if he wasn't diagnosed or treated who said he was depressed? Also what is a report a year later going to prove? Sorry if I sound questioning but not really understanding why a report is needed.

His name is not anywhere on the visa application? I believe whether he is migrating with you or not you have to put him down on the application and he will have to have a medical.

Why?
is 20 years old and not dependant on us. Is on benefits and is unlikely ever to come to Oz as could not cope with the plane flight for a start.

When we filled out our application we had to list all of our family including brothers and sisters, whether emigrating or not. Check with an agent or look on the DIAC site to be sure.
Sorry, I didn't see the part about being 20. He probably won't need a medical but I think you still have to put him down as family on the app.

Yes we also had to put down parents and my OH's sister and brother's details.
