Putting \ things in perspective

Putting \ things in perspective
Hi,
I have basically had a shit year apart from getting my visa nothing else has gone right. I have spent the last month moaning at friends that the house sale is not going quick enough and that all I want to be is in Australia. I keep thinking that it is the end of the world that our sale is delayed by a couple of weeks.
Tonight I got a phone call from a friend of mine totally devastated that her 26 year old niece has cancer and there is nothing they can do. I feel totally gutted for her.
It has put things in perspective for me, here I am moaning to her about my house sale and she is going through hell.
At the end of the day I have my visa, I am going to Australia, OK it is going to be delayed by a few weeks but what the hell.
Lets not all think that it is the end of the world if things are not going right for us. We have a new life to look forward to.

Hi yeah it usually takes something that devastating to make us re-think and count our blessings. Life is so precious yet fragile. My thought are with your friend and her family. Hang in there, your time will come. Donna & Neil

Couldnt agree more - it often takes something devasting and unfair to make you take a step back and look at what we have.

I just feel totally gutted for them. All I can do is be there for them. It just made me realise how pathetic I am being moaning because I might have to wait another month to go to Australia.

I have been in this situation very recently and I know how it brings you back down to earth with a huge bump. All you can do, all anyone can do, in that situation is be there - ready and willing to offer whatever support is needed.

Thanks SC I know you are right, she was there for me when my father died and I will be there for her, no matter where I am in the world.
