Hi,

Just to update you all - I spoke to the teacher in the primary school this morning who was not aware of what was going on. She could not have been nicer and promised to sort things out and I must say I picked up one happier little girl this afternoon.

As for my older girl - she has made friends with an expat - THANKYOU - and enjoyed a lovely day in Noosa with her family yesterday and today they rode their bikes to school. She too seems a lot happier :thumbsup: I'm sure she will fill me in when she gets home.

Hopefully they will both start to settle down and we can get back to normal life :thumbup:

Oh God, my heart really goes out to you all. I know what you mean as my daughter was a really sociable, outgoing, sweetie when she left nursery. However, when she started school she became withdrawn and complained that no-one would play with her. I had a word with her teacher who looked a bit surprised, but said that she would keep an eye out in the playground and even drank her coffee in the classroom which overlooks the playground. Her feedback at the end of the week was that little 'un appeared to be having a ball and had friends to play with. Our conclusion was that she was after a little bit of attention as she knew we would all give her comforting cuddles - which we did, to a point. We embarked on a large round of playdates where there was more one-on-one in her own environment which really did the trick. She still complains that she doesn't have as many friends as she would like, but she does have a little group now, just not loads.

I can only imagine how much more amplified this situation must be in another country and I seriously hope we don't have to go through it all again (by that time she'll be nearly 9).

So glad things are looking much better. This is one of my fears for our daughter, she's 13 and we are moving to Perth this Friday. Fingers crossed all will be well.
