Default Prawns - OMG!

We just BBQ'd some whole prawns and when I pulled the head off one of mine this bright orange liquid shot out across the table, anyone know what it was?! We had to throw the rest out as it's turned us both!

And that's the very reason I hardly ever eat prawns.

That's all the brains and gunk. My wife (asian) usually sucks all that stuff out
and depending on the size of the prawns eats pretty much everything else as well.

Yup, that's the norm. They also have a tube of poo running the full length of them, which is why you often get them butterflied in restaurants (not to make them look pretty).

papilon, does she eat the shells too? I was gobsmacked the first time I saw somebody do that.

You're supposed to devein the prawns before you put them on the barbie .....

Means taking out the tube of poo - here is an example: http://www.taste.com.au/how+to/artic...+devein+prawns

But they barbeque well in their shells, so it's a choice you make.
