Thanks irishbloo. We've had 3 rabbits, first one got killed by we think a snake. Second one had to go back to the shop because it wouldn't stop humping the guinea pig but this one was really cool.

It used to run about the garden, gambolling like a lamb. I'm actually quite upset about it. I think we'll have to get another one just like him.

Rats in the roof are come and go but every year I chuck about 15 or 20 baits up there and most of the previous years baits have been taken.

Mitre 10 & bunnings both sell possum traps. We find apple is a good bait.

You will find it hard to get rid of them long term. They will eventually come back. If possible you might want to invest in a Possum house in a nearby tree, that can often attract them away from the roof.

True, unless you block all entry points to your roof space, moving on one possum just creates a vacant home for another to move in. But not sure if creating possum houses really solves the problem either - unless you're into provisioning another possum house every time a new one moves into an area. The local tree could quickly become Possumville: full of possums on welfare :D

You can try hanging some Campher in the loft, they don't like the smell and should leave after a couple of days. Buy Campher at the local hardware Bunnings / Mitre 10 /Masters etc. When they have gone, cover up the hole where they were getting in.

If you use a trap and catch one, local council regs say you must release it within 50m of where you found it. Bugger 'em ( the council ) , take it 10kms away and let it go there - someone else can have it.;)

I've got a mate lives just down from you had them in his roof so he blocked all the holes to the roof and the noise got worse. he'd trapped it in the roof.

Just one of the joys of living on the scarp.

Sounds like fun!

Interestingly, the is the first Possum that I have seen in my area in the 8 years that we've lived here. Every other form of wildlife is in abundance , but not Possums. 2kms away though it's Possum city

It will die- they are incredibly territorial, hence the 50m rule.
