PO Box Number
Hey!
Just got our visa for Brissy and are flying on 20th Jan Just a quikie about PO Box numbers - I see that Royal Mail charge about 30 quid for a overseas mail redirection for 3 months. But we have no address just yet so can I redirect to a PO Box number in Brisbane? Also PO Box looks a bit complicated - lots of different sizes. DOes anyoneknow what would be adequate for a family of 3? Also do you have to pay for the whole year or can youjust have it for a few months?
Many thanks

Re: PO Box Number
We've just got a small box and if it fills up or you get something sent to you that won't fit in, they keep it in the PO and put a card in the box for you. We check ours once a week usually and have never had an issue with it being full. I'm pretty sure you can pay for shorter periods than a year but I couldn't be 100% - our box is our permanent mailing address so I just pay it annually anyway.
I'm pretty sure you can't set up a PO Box before becoming resident but you may be able to redirect your UK mail c/o an Aussie Post Office. We did this when moving from Darwin to Brisbane.
Try contacting the PO directly.

Re: PO Box Number
Easiest solution is to redirect to someone in the UK, then they can scan/forward anything you really need.
Getting a PO Box here can be difficult - we have tried a few times but the only ones available are very small and don't take anything larger than a standard card. The problem with other stuff being kept at the Post office is that you can then only pick up when the office is open - which is difficult if you work a normal 5 day week, as some offices don't open Saturdays.
