You make some very valid points and i don't want to come across as condoning what he did.
I just thought that an intelligent bunch of gobshites (
) that I know you guys are are might want to add some words of support to a fella whose havin' a rough time.

We all know what he's done was wrong and god forbid, he doesn't do something as stupid again !! I'm all for a peaceful life and at the end of the day I think/hope everyone deserves a second chance (well... in most cases anyway) cos thats the only way you can learn from your mistakes !

Whilst I think the guy deserves to be punished I think the politics of the NHS needs to be reviewed.
My friends ex consultant, admitted and was found guilty for purchasing, downloading and viewing indecent images of torture and sexual scenes of babies and children.
The courts decided he was a 'low risk' with children and he is on the sex offenders register, and after a short (very short) suspension, is now allowed to work again as a doctor.
Had that been say a cleaner, cashier in fact ANY 'non professional' trade, he would have been sacked and perhaps faced a custodial sentence.
But because he is a consultant, the courts said he was a low risk and could carry on working.
The fact he is ANY risk at all, should demand his sacking and yes, it is several years of medical training wasted. But its his fault.
What I am saying is, this ambulance driver knows he has done wrong and should be punished or reprimanded suitably.
I wonder how the NHS can justify allowing a doctor that has been found guilty of purchasing child porn (as part of Operation Ore) to keep his job and
then sack an ambulance driver for a much lesser offence?
Punishment should fit the crime, no matter what the skill, qualifications or trade of the person concerned.
