POLICE will be given live access to closed-circuit television cameras (CCTV) from across WA in a bid to better monitor antisocial behaviour
Mr Johnson said he expected the system would see up to 6,000 cameras across WA linked to police access by the end of the year.
6000 is madness,

They are not interested in anyone that is not doing anything wrong

If you are then you better watch out

Agree with Dougie on this one, better to have them in my opinion. Help protect the innocent and maybe deter the idiots.

And if you would like to Vote me into office i will also attach heat seeking missile launchers to the top of the CCTV to assassinate the ASBO's and idiots that way it will reduce the cost (to the taxpayer) of prosecuting these whoppers !!!

It isn't the fact of whether you are doing anything wrong or not - its the fact that they think they need 6,000 cameras in any event. seems like a nice safe place.

Its the same as everywhere else, some dodgy places that you just do not visit but 6,000 is a massive number hen you think london has only 5,000

Crime still happens, CCTV cameras or no. I hate them with a passion.

I think they'd be better getting two or three thousand really good ones instead of 6000 crap ones. All too often crime is captured on the cameras but they're so bloody fuzzy and out of focus that no one can recognise who's in the pictures. Kind of defeats the object really.
But I agree with Dougie though (not the heat seeking missile bit though
) if you're not doing anything wrong then why worry about them?

I like the heat seeking missile bit personally

...but with a lot less people. Are you expecting them to set up CCTV in the middle of the desert?
CCTV cameras are a waste of time and money and an invasion of privacy. There is no evidence anywhere that suggests they reduce overall crime.
..and to those who spout the "if you are doing nothing wrong what do you have to worry about?" argument. How would you feel about every man, woman and child being electronically tagged and your every move monitored by the State.... because obviously if you are doing nothing wrong you have nothing to worry about, right?.
