Re: Place v Relationship
Overwhelming poll result in favour of relationship above all else thus far, with the balance surprising me. Unless people that favour place aren't raising their hands and participating, which is a possiblity I guess.
Quoll's post has been the most telling in what one can sacrifice in choosing relationship over place if one feels strongly attached to ones place of origin. However it seems if the relationship is strong enough that people will actually reciprocate and upsticks if circumstances cause this to happen.
My own personal conclusion is that if a relationship is strong enough, it seems that location in most reasonable locales will be tolerated, and most importantly the location can change as time passes bringing with it different needs.
My faith in human nature has been given a nice healthy boost by this thread.

At the end of the day it all comes down to how much you love the selfish bastard who is refusing to budge.
Or vice versa.

I think attachment to roots may be an age thing too! What you can live with in your 30s and 40s becomes harder in your 60s and 70s! I'd never have picked that I would have such strong feelings for a need to belong because I was happy with an adventure lifestyle for so long. However, belonging is the bees knees!!!!
