I don't think we need to ban all dogs (although a few years in Australia has pushed me a little on this...) but just those breeds that have demonstrated they are lethal. I'm not talking about missing thumbs here, but people getting their skulls torn out and arms ripped off, etc., (both real examples).

Horses kill and seriously injure more people than dogs.

They don't kill very many random passers-by though, do they? Generally you have to climb onto a horse, often in conjunction with no headgear or inadequate headgear, in order to die. Or be standing behind one, which we all know is a no-no. This is not parallel to an old lady walking down the street and being set upon by three pit bulls.

We had a horse that did go for people- had to be shot. Vet put it down to being imperfectly castrated- a Rig in horsey terms. (Not done incorrectly by us, but by previous owners.) If a horse decides to bolt, nothing will stop it unless it runs into a truck, and it is very dangerous for onlookers. Even very experienced riders with all the correct safety gear suffer horrific injuries by being crushed when their mount falls on them.

Sure, but how many random strangers do they take out compared with our friend here?

I once came very close to be flattened by a horse, used to live in an acreage area when a horse that had escaped was just charging down the street, straight across the rd about 2meters in front of me! Witnessing it I'd be surprised if even a truck could have stopped it.

And what appears to be another case of "looking after some one elses dog mixed with a small child"

There IS a theme emerging.... Leaving dogs with people and adding children to the mix n....

Perhaps it would be worth considering the government making recommendations that people DONT leave their dogs with dog sitters who have kids ???????

It's something I have never done /considered doing... Not because my dogs have ever bitten anyone, but because I wouldn't want them to.

ANY BREED OF DOG Given the "right" circumstances can bite.....
