any members had problems with fuel,£200 a car for a repair,,use bp they reckon they are o.k..

Hi, I had problem with both our cars, we always fill up at Tesco. £245 repair. Thats just great, really cant afford to get both done.

Bloody idiots what did they do....

sorry to here that,,have you asked tescos what they have got to say about it,they sold it you..

No not yet as only found out what the fault was yesterday. VW could not find a problem and still charged us £30 just to look at it.

I have every intension of taking it further, but im only a small fish in a big pond.

car has been playing up all week since i filled up at tesco express! bloody cars!!

so its just tesco that people are having problems with then???

LONDON (Reuters) - Supermarket chain Tesco said on Wednesday it was investigating reports from motorists whose cars had suffered problems after filling up with petrol at its forecourts.

The country's biggest retailer said it carried out extensive tests on current and past batches of unleaded fuel but not discovered any abnormalities or contamination.

"We are aware that customers of other supermarkets

have also reported difficulties," a Tesco spokesman said.
"Whilst we cannot currently trace any problem back to Tesco fuel we will of course continue to urgently work with our supplier to identify what might be behind it.

"If we discover any problem with our fuel we will inform customers immediately and act quickly to put it right."

Trading standards authorities said they received between 75 and 100 complaints from motorists in southeast England.

"Officers are investigating these complaints and samples of fuel from some of the affected cars are currently being tested for contamination, as are the contents of the pumps from which the petrol was drawn," said Ian Hillier of the Trading Standards Institute.

He said an analysis of the samples was due by the end of the week.

"The problem appears to be restricted to unleaded petrol and motorists experiencing problems with their cars should take them to a garage," he added.

The BBC reported it had been contacted by hundreds of motorists reporting engine problems such as shuddering and stalling.

However, the RAC motoring organisation said it had not experienced any rise in breakdown call outs for fuel problems.

My Mum drives past 4 petrol stations to use Tesco cos they are cheaper. Doesn't get it that she's probably used the saving in the driving.....

There have been reports of the same problem at Morrisons.

Fortunately I usually refill at our local Caltex, so no worries here.

I see he UK papers are saying that there is silicon contamination in the petrol.

(Folk with computers might say there's silicon contamination all over the planet <g>)

Erm..so where is safe to get my petrol from now then?

I reckon it's mass hysteria, hyped up by the media.

It's the same amount of cars that would have broken down anyway but most are claiming fuel contamination did it because of all the hype.

For God's sake - are you trying to stir it up?

It's only modern cars affected - and how many breakdowns of modern cars do you normally see (except for Rovers and Holdens, natch <g>)?
