Your all gonna love it, I've been here 7 months now and there have been lotsa times I could have got back on the plane home, but with wee bit of determination it gets better every day, I found work really easily and my wife has started her 1st job today now that the kids are settled in school and kindy.I advise you to go to as many meet ups as poss, there are loads of people on the same boat to bounce ideas off and to keep your spirits up when your feeling a bit down and lonely.

Go Perthies!!!!

See yall soon.

Right as you probably know by now we have our visa. Now comes the hard part of deciding when to go and what happens next.
I think we have decided to validate as soon as possible with OH possibly coming back to the UK after a couple of weeks to sort out the rest of the house and to sell, carboot or give away the last few items that we cant take.
I don't know what to do first to be honest it is all a bit confusing.
I have to give a months notice at work, get copies of our medical notes and dental records, tell the tax man we are leaving, tie up a few loose ends then when we get there, there is a doctor to arrange, a job to acquire, medical insurance to arrange, transport and housing.
If anyone has any tips I would appreciate it.
Anyone else paniking?

I suppose whether we stay or not depends on how the housing market is...
I think at the moment we are priced out of most of the houses available. Darn it why do I have to be a nurse!

We are in Rocky and the place is Wellard isn't it. We looked there about two weeks ago and you can buy the land and a basic 3 bed cottage for around $320,000, all you then need to do is to furnish, paint and do the gardens. but if you buy a second hand home it comes with all those extras and at around only 10,000 extra.

I understand they are also opening up near Beldavis and some at Secret harbour, and some in Mandurah.

We looked and made the decision that we wanted to stay in Rocky and we have bought a house near to where the train will be. We needed to move in to owned property as we are not settled not being able to put things on the wall or have the pets that we would like.

We would love to meet up and we are only an hour down the road and have other friends moving to Mandrah and others living there already. Funnily enough we were down at the weekend and went to the fish and chip shop (nando's or something) and went on the boat cruise and would advise people to go on the smaller boat as our boat couldn't go under the bridge to the Peel inlet.

Anyway we saw the dolphins from the fish and chip shop, and couldn't believe they were so close and jumping fully out of the water real close to us.

Bye for now

Hi Everyone
Can I join this thread. We are from Dublin going to Perth hopefully around October. If house sells by then. Hubby is a Plumber/Pipefitter. We have 4 kids, 22, 19, 9 & 8. 2 older ones are staying here and the 2 younger ones coming with us.
At the moment we are looking at settling in around the Rockingham area. Have went through a few weeks of not been able to decide where to go but decided to stick with Rockingham. I have enjoyed reading this thread, have been lurking trying to get through it before I decided to post. Would love to be able to meet up with some of you when we get to Aus. I know the kids will make friends when they get into school but I'm thinking of me.
By the way were oldies compared to some here, I'm 44 and hubby is 45 but whats age only a number feel as young as I did when I was 24.
Sorry seem to have rambled a bit, I'm putting that down to excitement of getting there.
Hope to chat to some of you soon.
Sandra.:D
P.S I'm on Skype and MSN as well if anyone wants a chat.
