Perth heatwave.

Ack, my daughter's turned the a/c off again. She says she's too cold.
I can't do the beach at these temps. Sizzling sand, frying parking lot. No fun whatsoever.
Oh and it did get to 41.1C today. Even Rotto made it to 39.5. That must be awful. We were out there at 34C back in late November and that felt too warm for roaming around the island (especially since you won't be in an a/c car).

Mid 30s today, then a thunderstorm broke just 30 minutes after we'd all got out of the spa. Back yard is being lashed by rain, and the temperature has dropped to 28°C!

Its 38 degrees where I live at the moment, I was going to take the dog for a walk but as soon as I stepped out from the coolness/air con of my house into the heat, even the dog didnt want to go out.
Over it now, I want it to cool down somewhat and tomorrow when I work at the wildlife hospital I will be wearing jeans and boots

5 days above 37C and three of them 41C to 42C is pretty harsh.
I think that cyclone has something to do with why the heat is persisting in Perth at the moment, it's forcing north easterly winds over Perth which brings in the hot desert air.
It's quite hot here as well. 31C here the past couple of days, and most of the week has been pretty hot for that matter.

Well the weather has predicted scorching temperatures for Perth - possibly going over 40 degrees over the weekend and at least late 30's for the rest of the week, even 40 degrees.
I tend to stay out of it but perhaps go for a swim when the UV drops at about 4.30pm or later and stay holed up in the house with the air con full blast.
Today I had to go out and wore a hat and covered up pretty well, just getting more sensible in my old age I guess. For Australia Day I am tempted to stay in until 5pm, go for a swim and then enjoy the fireworks, but I have friends that plan to be out in it all day.
The warnings were on the news today, extra ambo crews will be on hand, warnings about heat stroke etc, but I guess lots of people will ignore warnings. I feel quite ill when the temps get this high so personally, I wont be out in it.
How will you be dealing with the next week and the predicted high temperatures? I so wish I had a pool in my garden.

At night I find it really effective to dampen a thin towel and have that on top of me instead of a sheet. It works wonders to keep me cool in conjunction with the ceiling fan.
Am looking forward to the forecast cooler temperatures for the next few days and I think the garden is too!

The humidity today is awful, I am holed up at home with the air con on full blast. I would love a decent thunderstorm and for the temperatures to drop enough to sleep well.

I spent the morning watching scout choppers demonstrating doing the waterbombing for the fires (forgot the sunscreen though and consequently look like a human raccoon
) Those guys are awesome

It was a bit cooler last night, after that non-event of a severe weather warning for thurs night, and it's been a bit fresher today too

I wonder how the in-laws are coping now? Bet they're freezing!
After 2 weeks here in Perth with us they landed back at Heathrow a few hours ago.
