Default Perth advice, not bashing

I'm interested in what advice people have about Perth and where to live. I'm Aussie n hubby Irish, we are thinking of moving out in the next 18 months or so (in Ireland at the mo). We were in Perth for a week on hol's and loved the place - I'm from country NSW and it reminded me of places where I had grown up with the advantages of a city like good restaurants and public transport. (I can hear the cynics sniggering already....just try living in Ireland!) But we have no real idea about areas to live etc. We will be first time home buyers so I'm interested especially at where would be good but affordable areas to live.

You won't find affordable in Perth unless you're coming with a wad of cash. It's very expensive to buy. Try taking a look at the pomsinperth forum and see what some of the locals say about what are good areas.

It is affordable in some areas away from the city. In the northern suburbs you will buy a 4 x 2 house in a decent area for around $450+

I'd check with the vendors first, but I'd suspect that will be a timber shed rather than the more traditional Colorbond version they use here.

Good luck though ... sounds a steal.
