Fraser mate....
I wouldn't normally say this about you but this time you're way off the mark.
She was done and banned the first time.
She was then caught driving again with the original ban notice in the glove box. Result... 15 months probation & don't drive.
She drove & got caught again.
Jail....
What's to question?
She obviously thought that because she was famous, (and for what, I don't think anyone really knows!) she could ignore the law time after time with no consequences!
The judge quite rightly thought otherwise.

did you meet mr BIG in the shower

why should paris flaunt the law?
she thinks she's above the law and she influences so many young people.
centurion, do you think she would give a stuff about you if you went to prison?
i would be willing to bet that you would whinge just the same if she wasnt sent to prison.
famous for being a trollop and a beanpole..
do'you reckon they have to fit extra bars to her cell

How many?
And she only got 23 days anyway. I don't think a fine was really an option, as it wouldn't make a dent in her pocket, and a driving ban clearly didn't make much of an impact either. So what choice did the judge have? She has no excuses whatsoever, it's not as if she couldn't afford a taxi or a hotel room.

The judge had little choice. It's not a harsh sentence for someone who was drink/ driving then flouted the ban.
She could have hired a chauffeur without making a dent in her fortune. She's not like Joe Bloggs who has to drive to earn a living.
Several other Hollywood 'it girls' like Lindsey Lohan and Nicole Ritchie have been caught drink driving recently. They think they're above the law. Maybe this will make them think again.

But dont let a little thing like the actual details put you off you off joining the media bandwagon of hatred.
Personally, I wouldnt care if this was Paris Hilton or someone else. I dont actually like her much as a person. Its the case management and media circus which I dislike.

The sheriff was on UK sky news yesterday and said she got more time than anyone else because of who she was.
I wasn't saying she shouldn't be punished, I was saying I found it odd that people would celebrate someone being put inside.

Re the comments about her being treated more harshly than 'ordinary' people, well in a way I think she's asked for that by setting herself up on this celebrity pedestal - it's a long way down. And does anyone actually have any figures for the average sentences handed out for other repeat-offenders?

I don't think it is a celebration of her suffering per se, it's rejoicing that finally reality seems to have triumphed over this ridiculous celebrity circus of anorexic, drug-ridden, alcoholic 'it'-girls who set themselves up as rolemodels for the rest of the female world. God knows they probably suffer enough every day anyhow, worrying that they aren't as thin as Nicole or as rich as Paris or as talented as Lindsay... I don't know, but to me their lives don't look like happy ones. Nonetheless, they flaunt themselves as being above everyone else, and to me the best part of this jail sentence is that it says "you have to abide by the same rules as everyone else. You are not special".

No, I dont think she would give a stuff. And no I wouldnt whinge if she wasnt sent to prison. My comments are based purely on the facts of the injustice of her case and the irony in this instance of treating a celebrity "just like everyone else".
But dont let a little thing like the actual details put you off you off joining the media bandwagon of hatred.

the facts are she that she broke the law.
as for a bandwagon of hatred

i dont hate her, i was a touch concerned that you seem to know a lot more than you should about her life

save your campaigning for someone who deserves it.

George Michael has also been naughty, and although he was found at the wheel of his car with drugs and alcohol in his system, he only got 100 hrs community service
