Default Pancake Day

Is it just me, or is Pancake Day (Shrove Tuesday if you feel religious) not recognised as much as it used to be?

Even the supermarkets, never usually ones to miss out on an opportunity to flog more merchandise, had no end of isle display on the issue, although the pancake mix shelves were sold out.

Is someone being PC?

Indeed, although you have to add more water to the mix here, it doesn't spread thin enough as it is.

A malign influence from the americans I feel.

Tip- if you make GF pancakes from scratch, don't do what I did and add a tiny bit of xanthan gum. It turned into a glutinous blob that no amount of milk could thin. I gave up and made a fresh normal batch for OH and DD.

I usually give up chocolate for lent, but think I'll give up overeating instead. Thought about giving up wine, but not sure I can do that. Just had a new delivery from Adina.....
