Pancake Day

Is it just me, or is Pancake Day (Shrove Tuesday if you feel religious) not recognised as much as it used to be?
Even the supermarkets, never usually ones to miss out on an opportunity to flog more merchandise, had no end of isle display on the issue, although the pancake mix shelves were sold out.
Is someone being PC?

We served pancakes at the cafe today. One girl ordered two saying that she loves Shrove Tuesday. It is her favorite day of the year.Someone asked her what she was giving up for lent. She looked confused and asked when lent was.

Tip- if you make GF pancakes from scratch, don't do what I did and add a tiny bit of xanthan gum. It turned into a glutinous blob that no amount of milk could thin. I gave up and made a fresh normal batch for OH and DD.
I usually give up chocolate for lent, but think I'll give up overeating instead.
Thought about giving up wine, but not sure I can do that. Just had a new delivery from Adina.....
