Pacific Pines- whats it like?
Hi folks
We have our tickets and fly out on the 7th feb !!
We have an appartment booked for 6 weeks near main beach, However need to start looking for a rental & schools.
I dont whant to Rent somewhere that we may not be able to afford to buy in that location, and moving schools again.
What is Pacific pines like for affordability, Schooling ect?
Any other locations you could recomend for families?

Re: Pacific Pines- whats it like?
Pacific Pines is on the whole a very new area which is still undergoing lots of home and infastructure development. It incorporates a rather large area.Blocks are not huge and there are several gated complexes . It is rather pleasing to the eye or could be Stepford Wives /over planned depending on what your used to/where you are coming from I will post some photos if this helps? I find it all rather nice but a bit too contrived at times.....The phrase 'Lego Land' has been thrown around a bit before......
Transport links are good with Pac Pines being within easy reach of the 'M1' Freeway (exit 62) approx 1 hour North into Brisbane and 1 hour South to Coolangata. As far as I'm aware the bus services are frequent and the nearest train Station is 5 mins drive away at Helensvale.
In the centre of Pac Pines you'll find the local shops with a Woolworths (supermarket), Chemist, Bakers, Butchers, Bottleshop (drive through and a drop in), Subway (fast food), hot chicken shop (even faster food!), video rental place, Newsagency...not forgetting the Tavern!....plus the Medical centre which incorporates Doctors,Dentist and Pathologist. A big 'Westfield' shopping centre is a short drive away....which is also where you'll find the nearest train Station (Helensvale)There are more retail places opening up in the near future alongside the Tavern. I've read that there will be a Servo and new pre schooler carer type place.
At present there is one Primary (Pacific Pines Primary) and one High School (Pacific Pines High) in the immediate area; both are strictly Zoned. There is a new Primary opening this year 'Park Lakes West'??? to take the load off the overly subscribed PPPS. There are also two other Primarys nearby....Jubilee and Gaven. There is an 'ABC' childcare centre right opposite the school which does after school care as well as all the usual 'Kindy' stuff.
There is quite a good community feel here with lots of activities running for the kids....Very family orientated. There is a central community park called 'Central Park' comprising of a large lake surrounded by pathways with a brilliant kids playground, sports Oval and general grassed area. Vandalism has been a bit rife over recent months in the playground though
As I would say to anyone....don't make any firm plans until you have seen for your self...one mans meat etc....Get yourself here and have a look for yourself. No one can tell you and don't trust 'Real Estate' to give the whole picture when looking at properties
We live right on the outskirts of Pac Pines in an older property with a bit of character, and have been in this area for a year and a half now.
Just off to download some photos that I have.
