Yeah. Actually I haven't seen any articles with their thoughts on the verdict. Did they pass comment?

Yes, here:
Reeva Steenkamp's family welcome sentencing of former paralympian Oscar Pistorius - Africa - World - The Independent

It's a sad tale where the wrongdoer is pitied and comforted while those who have had to endure the greater loss have largely been overlooked:

So he will maybe serve about 10 months in a jail for murder. Unreal. Such is the value of life in SA anymore.

Well it is a better than house arrest, which for a time, looked entirely possible. It is an absolute disgrace that fame and money have come into this case.

The judge didn't talk about fame or money. However she did talk about disability and said that SA prisions were geared to cope with those who were disabled and that could not be used as a reason for no prison time. Given the decision of culpable homocide 5 years sounds about right given his long list of previous "act before you think" f88k ups.

The verdict. You know, when culpable homicide was handed down. Not the punishment.

Which makes me wonder if blood money has changed hands.

There are strong grounds for appeal (the judge obviously got dolus eventualis wrong), but the family say they are OK with 10 months in jail? Common law murder has a 15 year minimum term....

I'm smelling a rat.

Still looking for an article where it talks about Reeva's families reaction to the verdict. Maybe they were satisfied OP is just a f88k up, rather than a premeditated killer.

I'm not sure, but would it be up to them?

The decision would more than likely rest with the state

Little bit of info about that, Beoz

Key Moments From The Oscar Pistorius Trial | Orange UK
:: The Verdict

On 11 September, Pistorius wept as he was cleared of the murder of Ms Steenkamp. Judge Thokozile Masipa told the court there was "no doubt" when Pistorius fired his gun "he acted unlawfully", however, and the next day found him guilty of culpable homicide. The offence is South Africa's equivalent of the UK's manslaughter charge, and carries a maximum jail term of 15 years. Ms Steenkamp's father Barry leaned forward in his seat when the verdict was read out. Her mother, June, showed no reaction. Later, Ms Steenkamp's parents attacked the judge's decision to acquit Pistorius of murder. "This verdict is not justice for Reeva," June Steenkamp told NBC News. "I just want the truth."

I think this case is concluded. Truly have zero faith in a fair justice system there., and I wouldn't even go as far as to call it that anymore. This case was compromised from the start with Oscar's police buddies tramping all over the crime scene and contaminating the site. As "police officers" they would have known that. The circus simply continued from there.

Interesting - doesn't really say too much. Kind of makes you think that June is not too concerned about the actual conviction, rather more concerned about the truth as to what happened and punishment for the OP. Lets hope she is satisfied with both now.
